Steve Meek’s Story

Hello,

My name is Steve Meek. I live in the DFW area in Texas. My bike is a 1979 CB750K.

I saw this bike on Craigslist and it brought back so many memories of my early days of motorcycling!

I drove to Kentucky to pick her up and I have been slowly nursing her back to health. It needed a lot of T.L.C. when I first got her. Poor compression and a dead cylinder forced me to tear into it before ever even riding it! The engine had to come out and apart to be fixed Some of the things needed were: new rings, new shims, a gasket set, re-work the carbs, an oil change, replace a cable here and there, re-hook up the lights and a lot of cleaning.

I still need to replace the shocks, re-work the forks with new seals and oil, as well as keep up the cleaning! It is a never ending job, that’s for sure!

I just got a small wind screen for her and will install it this weekend before taking it out to see how it performs.

I was going to transform her into a café racer, but have since changed my mind. I like this bike too much to hack it up at this time. Perhaps I can find a decent 550 four to take the café treatment instead!

May the bugs in your teeth be fresh and the rubber on your tires remain in constant contact with the pavement. See you in the wind!

Steve.
